Soundtracks: A Double-Dose of Falcom
01.24.09 - 1:07 AM

We have eight album reviews today! Let's start with the cheesy stuff.

Rie Sugimoto, winner of Falcom's "Miss Lilia" contest, released a number of albums on the King Records label. Four of them were directly tied to Falcom, specifically Ys and Sorcerian. Those four albums are "Celceta," "Heal Ring," "Krelia," and "Lilia." Many of the game-related vocals (though not all) would also appear on the Falcom Vocal Collections. Beyond that, there are also many original compositions found on these vocal albums. Reader-reviewer Connary provides on all four counts.

Then, we have four albums from Falcom's beloved Action RPG, Sorcerian. Only one could even be considered a fully arranged album: "Sorcerian MIDI Collection." And even then, we are working purely in the world of synths. The other three albums are all OSTs of sorts: "All Sounds of Sorcerian," "Music From Sorcerian," and the recently printed "Sorcerian Mega Drive Version OST" directly from Sega!

At this point, the Falcom experts at RPGFan (namely, me) have come to the conclusion that there are somewhere between 10 and 20 Falcom CDs we've yet to cover, excluding drama CDs and promotional items with no original musical content. We've set a new years resolution, to completely cover this backlog before the end of 2009. Wish us luck! And if you want to contribute, feel free to do so!
