I can't wait to get back to insult swordfighting.

LucasArts and developer Telltale Games are bringing back Guybrush Threepwood in more ways than one. The original title in the series, Secret of Monkey Island will see a complete makeover for the Xbox 360 and PC. Players will still be able to play the game with its original graphics, should they want to go back to its old-school vibe. The game's visuals will still be completely 2D, and will be fully hand-drawn. Secret of Monkey Island will be available later this year.

Threepwood will also be back in a series of five downloadable games, similarly to the way Telltale packaged their Strong Bad: CGFAP and Sam and Max games. Five monthly installments will arrive on Wii and PC under the title Tales of Monkey Island.

Keep watch to RPGFan later this week as we have a chance to check out all that Telltale has at their booth.

Update: Thanks to all of the readers who noticed that I was dumb and called out the remake as Escape from Monkey Island instead of Secret of Monkey Island.
