First Ys VII Details Announced
03.25.09 - 9:34 PM

Last week, we reported that Ys VII was PlayStation Portable-bound. Today, the game's developer and publisher Nihon Falcom released a first batch of information regarding the newest entry in its long-running action RPG franchise. Instead of taking on monsters alone, protagonist Adol will get some support this time around. Similar to Kingdom Hearts, one player-controlled character will be accompanied by two AI-controlled party members. The game's story will evolve around the five dragons of Altago.

Skills apparently can only be used when they are plugged into a currently equipped weapon. In addition to standard skills, each character will possess a unique powerful EX skill. Falcom promises that Ys VII will become the biggest game in series history.

Ys VII is currently scheduled to arrive on Japanese retail store shelves in September.

The newest remakes of Ys I and II, the Ys I & II Chronicles will be available on PlayStation Portable in July. The compilation of the two classic titles will offer four different difficulty settings, as well as the option to switch between the PSP version's visuals and the graphics of the Windows release. Further noteworthy features include altered dialogue, a "boss rush" mode and arranged BGM tracks. The music of the PC-8801 and Windows version will also be on the disc.
