Sony Computer Entertainment Japan has opened the official website of Demon's Souls. As previously announced, the PlayStation 3-based action RPG is developed externally by From Software.

The game's background story begins with a king discovering a shrine located in a remote mountain range. Inside the ancient structure he obtains a new source of power known as "soul." The prosperity brought upon the country by this new power did not last long, though. Seeking even greater power, the king returned to the shrine. There he woke up an ancient beast which unleashed a colorless fog and demons. The fog, which had quickly covered the entire land, cut off the country's connections to the outside world. Meanwhile, the demons began to rob the people of their souls and eat them. Two decades later, the people are clinging to one last hope. Demon's Souls will be available in Japan sometime next year.
