Sega Announces New RPG by Etrian Odyssey Creator
09.16.08 - 12:47 PM

At a press event in Tokyo today, Sega revealed a previously unannounced RPG. The mysterious game is directed by Kazuya Niinou, the creative mind behind the Sekaiju no Meikyuu (Etrian Odyssey) series, who has recently left his former employer Atlus. Sega veteran Rieko Kodama is producing the game, while Yuuzou Koshiro is composing the soundtrack. The teaser site, which can be accessed by following the link provided below, offers few hints on what to expect from the game. In addition to the declaration "we are making RPG now", the only hint offered by the teaser site's URL and what looks to be the game's logo is the reference to dragons.

At today's event the company also announced release dates for Phantasy Star Zero, Shining Force Feather and Infinite Line. Following the success of the PlayStation Portable-based Phantasy Star Portable (almost 700,000 copies have been shipped to Japanese retailers), Sega considers Phantasy Star Zero the most important piece of its holiday season line-up. The newest addition to the Phantasy Star franchise will be available in Japan on December 25th for 4,800 yen ($45.41 USD).

Meanwhile, the newest addition to another storied RPG franchise, Shining Force Feather is scheduled to hit Japanese retail store shelves in spring 2009. Another RPG title set to go on sale next spring is Infinite Line, the Platinum Games-developed science-fiction title. Infinite Line will be playable at next month's Tokyo Game Show.
