Renaming, Renumbering, and the International Market

There's plenty of confusion out there with renumbered games. The classic example is that a friend tells you his favorite game is Final Fantasy III...and you wonder if he played a Super Nintendo game over a decade ago, or if he played a DS remake of a Japanese Famicom title.

This month's editorial tackles this issue, but with a positive outlook: the problems of the past are slowly subsiding. Yes, there's still plenty of renaming going around, but in general, the stateside publishers are starting to get the hint: we don't like renamed games.
