Gust Announes Mana Khemia Sequel
02.18.08 - 4:09 AM

Gust is working on a sequel to Mana Khemia: Gakuen no Renkinjutsushitachi. Titled Mana Khemia 2: Ochita Gakuen to Renkinjutsushitachi, the game is currently in development for PlayStation 2. Once players begin a new game, they are asked to select one out of two protagonists, Roselux Meitzen or Ulrika Mewberry. Roselux is shy and hence not very sociable. He is an orphan, who used to live with his grandfather. After the grandfather had become unable to work, the duo depended on the assistance of a rich acquaintance. Eventually, a rich lady showed interest in Roselux and hired him as her servant. The young man might be a skilled sword fighter, but seems to have absolutely no interest in alchemy. Compared to the realistic Roselux, Ulrika is the complete opposite. She is very bright and optimistic, but for better or worse spends little time thinking about her actions. When she was but a young child, she received a mana egg from a stranger. She had always thought it was a real mana egg and hence treated it carefully, but even after a decade had passed, the egg had not changed. Assuming she will be able to do something with the egg, once she becomes an alchemist, Ulrika decides to enroll into an alchemist school.

Mana Khemia 2: Ochita Gakuen to Renkinjutsushitachi for PlayStation 2 will be available in Japan on May 29th. The game's standard version will retail for 6,800 yen ($63.09 USD), while the the limited edition carries a price tag of 9,800 yen ($90.92 USD).
