SCEJ Announces Coded Soul for PSP
11.28.07 - 10:54 AM

Sony Computer Entertainment today announced its newest original PlayStation Portable RPG. Titled Coded Soul, the game is developed by Shin Megami Tensei mastermind Kouji "Cozy" Okada and his company Gaia Games. Gaia Games had previously already worked on Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner for Sony Computer Entertainment. Unlike Monster Kingdom's soundtrack however, Coded Soul is not scored by ten but only by one composer: Hitoshi Sakimoto. The character designs are handled by Raita Kazama. The 25-year old has previously done mainly card illustrations for various arcade games, such as Sega's Sangokushi Taisen and Aruze's VM Japan as well as trading card games.

Similar to Monster Kingdom, Coded Soul lets you collect monsters and then turn them into party members fighting your battles for you. These battles are described as combination action battles. More than 100 different monsters will appear in the game. Coded Soul will also feature customization with a high degree of freedom and the possibility to fuse weapons.

Apart from trading monsters, the game will also support an online versus mode. In this mode, players will have to clear a dungeon faster than their competitors. Last but not least, owners of Game Republic's PlayStation 3 title Folklore can look forward to a linkage feature connecting the two games.

Coded Soul will be available in Japan on February 7th.
