Vanilla Ware Announces New Action RPG for Wii
09.06.07 - 6:07 PM

Marvelous Interactive announced an original Action RPG, tentatively titled Oboro Muramasa Youtouden, for Wii. Currently 30% complete, the game is developed by Vanilla Ware, the development studio behind Grim Grimoire and Odin Sphere. Unlike this duo of PlayStation 2 titles, Oboro Muramasa Youtouden will take place in a world inspired by Japanese history. Using the Wiimote, players will wield their katana and small throwing blade in battle. The game will feature two protagonists. Momohime is the daughter of a feudal lord. While she is raised with a lot of love, she ends up being possessed by an evil spirit. In this condition she runs off not knowing where she is heading. The evil spirit's original form is a master fencer. As a fugitive ninja, the second protagonist, Kisuke is being pursued. He has no clear memory, but his journey has been motivated by seeking revenge and swords. The game will see the duo fight their way through a variety of different locations, ranging from an old battle field, over a traditional Japanese town to a hall with a large Buddha statue.

Oboro Murasama Youtouden has yet to receive an official release date in Japan.
