Idea Factory Readying Duo of Strategy RPGs
08.29.07 - 1:09 PM

While Idea Factory has already released three titles for Xbox 360 and one for PlayStation 3 in Japan, the company also continues to provide strategy RPGs for PlayStation 2. The two newest additions to Idea Factory's long list of PlayStation 2-based strategy RPG offerings are Generation of Chaos Desire and Spectral Gene.

Generation of Chaos Desire actually consists of two previously released titles: Generation of Chaos and Generation of Chaos Next. Generation of Chaos Desire however is not just a mere compilation of those two games. In fact, Idea Factory has taken the battle system of Shinten Makai Generation of Chaos V and implemented it into both games.

Generation of Chaos Desire will be available in Japan on September 27th for 6,800 yen ($58.95 US).

Spectral Gene's story unfolds on the island of Mniet. For two millennia, Mniet, located somewhere in the distant seas, had been sealed off from the outside world. In this total seclusion, humans and demons lived together peacefully in what could be described as paradise. That is, until one day, the resurrection of the devil was predicted. The lord of the underworld's revival is only three years away, giving the player only a short period of time to strengthen his army and develop towns to defeat the bad guy. Among the game's young feudal lords, Kain Noa possesses the most knowledge about military affairs, because he has inherited a research center dealing exactly with these issues. While he does not train his body, depending on the situation, he reluctantly takes part in battles as commander. Enju is a female knight responsible for protecting the kingdom's three princesses. Following the command of the princesses, she becomes an advisor to Kain. The second princess, who is referred to as Black Princess due to her hair color, is a martial arts expert. She hardly ever speaks, and if she does, she uses very blunt, manly language. Fauzer is leading an army of demons. He invaded Mniet to get his dirty hands on the power of the devil.

So far the following roots (classes) have been confirmed to appear in the game: mage, ninja, thief, angel, amazon, cactus, guard, bard, ranger, frog warrior, warrior, and samurai. A root class not only determines which weapons a unit can equip, but also under which climate conditions and when it performs particularly well.

Spectral Gene will be available in Japan on November 22nd. The standard version will go on sale for 6,800 yen ($58.95 US), while the limited edition will retail for 8,800 yen ($76.29 US).
