NIS Announces Dirty Dozen

Nippon Ichi Software plans to release a total of 12 titles during its current fiscal year ending on March 31st 2008. Out of those 12 games, seven will be released in the US, versus only five in Japan. The Gifu prefecture-based developers of Disgaea also upped their sales projections for the new fiscal year by 50% to 300,000 copies. For its fiscal year 2007/08, Nippon Ichi Software aims to post an operating profit of 499 million yen ($4.04 million US) on sales of 2.28 billion yen ($18.45 million US). This would translate to year-on-year increases of 44.6% and 23.5% respectively.

While the report out of Japan does not mention any concrete titles, it confirmed the company will continue to focus on the strategy RPG genre. Company president Kouichi Kitazumi wants to expand NIS' business outside Japan, while maintaining the its current foothold in its home market. While Nippon Ichi Software has traditionally focused on Sony Computer Entertainment's platforms, the company will also support DS and Wii in the future. Its first DS-based title will be released exclusively in the US sometime during the current fiscal year.
