Shin Megami Tensei: Retro Review
06.10.07 - 9:33 AM

Alright, we all know full well that Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei series is a sensation on both sides of the Pacific. Well, at least, it's an underground hit series. But it gets main stream attention these days, and people really seem to love what Atlus is doing with it.

But there may be some things you don't know about the series. Like: how did it all start? Well, technically it started with Megami Tensei I&II, which Namco developed. But Namco passed the rights on to Atlus, who went on to add that little "Shin" (New/True) to the beginning. It was in 1992, on the Super Famicom (SNES), that Atlus released Shin Megami Tensei. There's no question as to why the game didn't see its way stateside: Nintendo's standards at the time automatically blocked the series from any potential entry to the US.

A true series veteran, our own Neal Chandran, brings you a detailed review on this classic game that really got this fantastic series moving on its way. The details of the game's plot and design may surprise you. Click below to read Neal's review of Shin Megami Tensei!
