Konami Announces FY07 Results 05.23.07 - 11:49 PM Konami announced its financial results for the previous fiscal year 2006/07. The makers of Metal Gear Solid and Suikoden posted a net profit of 16.2 billion yen ($133.37 million USD) on sales of 280.3 billion yen ($2.33 billion USD). Compared to fiscal year 2005/06, sales were up, but net profit was down. While the health service group (which manages Konami fitness clubs across Japan) posted higher sales, the digital entertainment group (which includes videogames, merchandise, online games, and multimedia) generated slightly lower revenue than during the previous fiscal year. The digital entertainment group's lower revenue can be attributed to a massive decline in revenue within the toy and hobby sub-segment. Meanwhile, videogame sales remained more or less stable, declining slightly from 84.2 billion yen ($693.19 million USD) to 83.6 billion yen ($688.25 million USD). Konami singled out its ever popular Winning Eleven (Pro Evolution Soccer) series as the single biggest contributor to its videogame sales. Worldwide, more than 36 million copies of the series' various installments have been sold to date. For the current fiscal year ending on March 31st 2008, Konami is aiming for sales of 295 billion yen ($2.43 billion USD) and an operating profit of 33 billion yen ($271.68 million USD).
