Atari, CD Projekt Reach Publishing Agreement for The Witcher

CD Projekt, developer of the upcoming PC RPG The Witcher, based on BioWare's Aurora Engine, has announced they have entered a North American publishing agreement with Atari, publishers of the NeverWinter Nights games and the upcoming Silverfall.

"The Witcher is a tremendous game that has been on everyone’s radar since CD Projekt began development," said Jeremiah Cohn, Product Manager, Atari, Inc. "With this publishing deal, Atari continues its quest to bring highly impressive titles to North America and we have our sights set on making The Witcher one of the most anticipated RPGs of the year."

The Witcher is based on the works of Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, where players take control of Gerald, a monster hunter with supernatural athletic ability. One of the key features of The Witcher is the fact that each and every ability will have some sort of effect on the game; the catch is, however, that not all of these effects will be noticable right away, so your past can still come back to haunt you...

The Witcher will launch in North American territories this fall under the "Games for Windows" brand, optimized for both Windows XP and Windows Vista. While no rating has been announced, expect The Witcher to garner an "M" for Mature rating.
