Exclusive: NIS Talks Makai Wars
01.31.07 - 2:36 PM

In an exclusive interview with Nippon Ichi Software RPGFan conducted earlier this month, the head of the company's entertainment division shed some light on Makai Wars. Originally announced for PlayStation Portable in 2004, NIS reportedly had put the game's development on hold in 2005. Afterwards, a PlayStation 3 game by the same title was announced, leading many to believe that NIS was now developing Makai Wars for PlayStation 3, instead of PlayStation Portable. That, however, does not seem to be the case. In fact, RPGFan was told that the game's development for PlayStation Portable had not been cancelled. Our interview partner, however, would not provide any details, saying only that the project was still in its preparation stage at this point in time.

In addition to Makai Wars, Soul Cradle, Grim Grimoire, and the adventure game Amagoushi no Yakata, Nippon Ichi Software is apparently working on a couple of other projects. Following the releases of Disgaea 2, Disgaea Portable and a Disgaea anime last year, the company is already pondering ideas regarding new Disgaea-related projects. The performance of its PlayStation Portable debut, Disgaea Portable in Japan apparently exceeded internal expectations. Furthermore, future handheld releases are also under consideration.

Look forward to the full interview with the head of Nippon Ichi Software's entertainment division soon.
