Bishoujo Soundtrack Reviews
12.31.06 - 11:32 PM

The last update for RPGFan's Soundtracks Section in 2006 is one that I hope people remember for some time, particularly because of its uniqueness. Our friend (and, in some ways, cousin-site), Chudah's Corner, has always shown strong support for these Adventure titles ("dating sims," "digital novels," those sort of games). The soundtrack database there is filled with all sorts of obscure titles that have only the tiniest chance of reaching the US.

Tonight we look at some of the bigger names in this genre, mostly with the help of our Adventure guru, Neal Chandran.

Neal first reviews the soundtrack to infinity, the game that spawned the series known as the "infinity" series. Now that developer Kid has declared bankruptcy, we're sad to say that there may not be any more games in this series. But if you want to look at the first one, particularly its music, look no further, because you just found it.

Mr. Chandran also took on three soundtracks from the popular To Heart series. He reviewed the OST for the PC version of To Heart, as well as the OST and character song album for To Heart 2. To our knowledge, there's little more music to cover in the series, so be sure to give a look at this section.

And then, just a few rows down after To Heart, there's the game that really started the dating sim series proper: Konami's Tokimeki Memorial. I stepped in to review the three disc soundtrack of the first game, from the PlayStation incarnation. Entitled "Forever With You Original Game Soundtrack 2," this one has a whole lot of music: but is it worth the plastic it's printed on? Check it out and decide for yourself.

There are plenty of exciting soundtracks coming in 2007, and there will be even more reviews covering the soundtracks we somehow missed over 2006 (and even more years past), so be sure to check in every week or two for more musical goodness at RPGFan!
