Capcom today announced its first quarter results. The Osaka-based makers of Megaman and Resident Evil reported a consolidated net profit of 808 million yen ($7.02 million USD) on sales of 10.57 million yen ($91.78 million USD). While sales decreased by 7.5%, net profit rose by 32.9%.

The company's consumer game division posted sales of 4.53 billion yen ($39.33 million USD) and an operating profit of 820 million yen ($7.12 million USD). The lack of any major killer application resulted in lower sales (13.1% lower than during the same period of the previous fiscal year), but Clover Studio's critically acclaimed PlayStation 2 action game Ookami and Rockman EXE for Nintendo DS have performed well on the Japanese market. Furthermore, Japan's most popular PlayStation Portable game to date, Monster Hunter Portable is still in high demand. Meanwhile, Rockman EXE 6 for Game Boy Advance has been popular with fans on this side of the Pacific.

Capcom, just like most other Japanese third party publishers, has not altered its full year forecast.
