Capcom today announced its financial results for the fiscal year 2005/2006 which ended on March 31st. The Osaka-based makers of Biohazar (Resident Evil), Rockman (Megaman) and Breath of Fire posted a consolidated net profit of 6.94 billion yen ($61.93 million USD) on sales of 70.25 billion yen ($626.90 million USD). This result was negatively affected by the performance of the consumer game division. While the division managed to increase its annual revenue by 6.8% to 42.72 billion yen ($381.22 million USD), its operating profit declined by 25.1% (compared to the previous fiscal year) to 2.93 billion yen ($26.15 million USD). Capcom cited slow sales of key titles, such as Shin Onimusha (Onimusha: Dawn of Dreams) and its fighting game Beat Down outside Japan as reasons behind the lower than expected profit. Among Capcom's success stories were the PlayStation 2 version of Biohazard 4 (Resident Evil 4), Rockman EXE 6 and Gyakuten Saiban (Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney) for DS. The PlayStation 2-based Monster Hunter 2 and Japan's most successful PlayStation Portable title Monster Hunter Portable performed well above expectations.

For the current fiscal year 2006/07, Capcom projects a net profit of 3.9 billion yen ($34.80 million USD) on sales of 68.4 billion yen ($610.39 million USD).
