From NIS America - New Disgaea, Makai Wars, Etc
05.10.06 - 6:48 PM

It's certainly no secret that NIS America has become a fan favourite for gamers interested in lesser known Japanese RPGs. After gathering widespread interest through their smash hit Disgaea, NISA has gone on to become the de facto publisher of the small Japanese developer, taking up the laurel left behind by the now defunct Working Designs.

First on the ticket is the anime adaptation of Disgaea. With Disgaea currently airing in Japan, there is some speculation as to developing La Pucelle, Phantom Brave, or Makai Kingdom for animation. Additionally, NISA is looking to expand from the PS2 and PSP onto the Nintendo Wii and Microsoft XBox 360. More cel-shaded titles to follow the upcoming Blade Dancer, though no titles have been named. Of special interest, NISA also noted that they will be pursuing more small Japanese developers for publication rights in North America.

There will also be a new PS3 title, Makai Wars. Details were sketchy, but the name may imply a connection to either Phantom Brave or Makai Kingdom, two of NISA's previous titles. There was also talk of a new action RPG, one that should be quite familiar to many Japanese gamers and North American importers, although no names could be released. More on this as it develops.
