Soundtracks Update: Phoenix Wright
02.21.06 - 11:41 PM

It's a stockpile of eccentric Japanese adventure titles that we're looking into over at the soundtracks section. What do we got? Everything you want and more. Not really. But these are some good ones.

Let's start with the one you've heard of...Phoenix Wright. Except, in Japan, it's called Gyakuten Saibn. And there are three of them for GBA. The one we got on DS is the remake of the first title, entitled Gyakuten Saiban Yomigaeru Gyakuten. The soundtracks for the GBA games have been reviewed by our contributing (pictures) editor, Rebecca Cheng. I wrote the review for the DS soundtrack.

Neal Chandran, the adventure-game guru, wrote reviews for some classic Japanese soundtracks. First up is EVE burst error, one of the most recognized titles from C's Ware. Also reviewed is the guitar arranged album for Tokimeki Memorial, which is much softer than the name would make you believe.

Finally, a first-person-perspective RPG called Baroque. Well, we've had a review of the OST for seven years. But did we have the single image song? No we didn't. Connary fills in the void by reviewing the only release from the group "Baroque Mode," a three-person female pop trio that likely formed just for the game's release and never went anywhere from there.

Next week, expect some important soundtrack releases related to NIS America and Atlus. As Tigger used to say: TTFN - ta ta for now!
