Square Enix today revealed that its PlayStation 2 RPG Dragon Quest VIII: Sora to Umi to Daiichi to Norowareshi Himegimi (Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King) has sold more than four million copies in Japan. The series' previous main series installment, Dragon Quest VII, for the PlayStation has sold 4.10 million copies in Japan.

Dragon Quest VIII also proved to be popular with audiences on this side of the Pacific, as Square Enix registered sales of 430,000 copies during the first six weeks since the game's November 17th release. The game's European release will follow in April.
