Dekaron Goes Japan
01.12.06 - 6:57 PM

Suplex and Nihon Moria held a press conference about their MMORPG Dekaron in a club in Tokyo's Roppongi district today. Dekaron was developed by South Korean company Gamehi and takes players to a world dominated by the two forces of Chaos and Cosmos. On the continent of Tristea, players will have to deal with unwelcome otherworldy vistors who aim to bring the continent under their control. The warriors fighting those otherwordly creatures are known as Dekaron.

The three-dimensional environments will undergo constant change as time passes by. Since the game focuses on sound effects like flowing water or the chirping of birds, there will be no BGM music tracks playing on the field map.

Players can select between the following five classes: knight, hunter, magician, summoner and the healing and support spell casting segnale. Dekaron will feature more than 100 quests and a very action-oriented battle system. Opponents' AI will react to the player's actions. Each piece of equipment will come with a socket. By inserting special items into these sockets, equipment can be customized and upgraded.

The game has undergone its closed beta testing phase in Japan from December 22nd until January 9th. While no dates for the open beta test have been announced yet, the two companies plan to launch this second beta test at the earliest in late January and at the latest in mid-February. Servers should be able to handle up to 100,000 users during this open beta. The game will run off the highly secure Blade Symphony server platform developed by Hitachi.

In South Korea, players pay no usage fees, but instead real-world money for items purchased in-game. Whether this system will be applied to the Japanese version as well hasn't been determined yet, though. In addition to the actual game, the releases of the novel on which the game's world is based on as well as a manga are planned.

Dekaron will be available in Japan sometime this spring.
