Namco today announced, that its PlayStation 2 RPG Tales of the Abyss will be released in Japan on December 15th for 6,800 yen ($62.31 US). The release date was chosen to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Tales series. Exactly ten years ago on December 15th 1995, Namco's popular RPG series debuted in Japan with the Super Famicom release of Tales of Phantasia.

The company also confirmed that Tales of the Abyss' character designs are the work of series veteran Kousuke Fujishima.
