Second Slime Controller Forthcoming in Japan
09.01.05 - 3:42 PM

Accessory maker Hori today announced a second PlayStation 2 controller shaped like a Slime, the mascot of Square Enix's Dragon Quest series. While the company had released a blue-colored Slime controller alongside Dragon Quest VIII: Saora to Umi to Daichi to Norowareshi Himegimi (Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King) in Japan last November, this new Dual Shock 2-compatible model will be silver-colored. When the controller is not in use, players can remove the cable and decorate their room with the accessory. To make it even more decorative, the controller will ship with a special stand bearing the Dragon Quest logo.

The Metal Slime Controller will be available in Japan sometime this fall for 3,980 yen ($35.96 USD). Fans who don't want to wait until then can buy their unit at Hori's Tokyo Game Show 2005 booth in two weeks. The blue controller will be available in the US upon the launch of Dragon Quest VIII.
