Greetings, faithful followers of the VGM scene.
This summer, we've taken a look back on many older titles, and devoted much time and attention to Falcom: and rightfully so. Nonetheless, we recognize that many major releases from the last few months were overlooked.
Today, that changes.
Mike Wilson was kind enough to write extensive reviews for the OSTs of both Drag-on Dragoon 2 and Game Musashiden II: Blademaster. I myself was quite pleased with the quality of these soundtracks. To find out whether or not Mike agrees with me, read his reviews.
Reader-reviewer Connary wrote a review for the Genso Suikoden IV OST, which was released in June, despite its being available in Japan for many months before June. Connary had a lot to say about this soundtrack, so enjoy reading this very lengthy and well-thought-out review.
Nintendo recently released a number of "series compilation" albums: one of them is for the Legend of Zelda series. I took a look at this one disc, packed with 70 audio tracks. Don't get too excited about this soundtrack, but do feel free to get excited about my sober review!
Finally, we have three soundtracks related to the recent PS2 remake entitled Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song-. Derek Strange, a reader-reviewer who has time and time again proved his ability to see the good and bad in videogame music, takes on the massive four disc OST. To complement this review, I wrote a review of the opening song single (entitled "Minuet"), and I also wrote a review for a SaGa series "battle collection" album that came as a promotional item with the Japanese game.
There you go: seven soundtracks all released in the last 365 days. Expect more of the same, as many significant soundtracks will be released on August 24.
