MSN-Mainichi Interactive, the internet presence of the Japanese daily newspapers Mainichi Shimbun has chatted with Square Enix president Youichi Wada about his company's plans for the next generation of hardware. Wada believes that the market will polarize into a low-end and high-end segment. Hence, various hardware platforms would have their respective place and share in the market. In such an environment, releasing a major title for various platforms will be the key to reach all game users. Square Enix has previously announced Final Fantasy titles for all three next generation platforms: An untitled installment that is currently in development by the company's first production team for PlayStation 3, an Xbox 360 version of Final Fantasy XI and a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles for the Nintendo Revolution.

Wada also mentioned, that in addition to the November release of Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King in the US, Square Enix was also planning to release Dragon Quest-related games and try to establish the series as a brand outside Japan.
