Today at the San Diego Comic Con, Marvel Entertainment announced a deal to give Microsoft Game Studios the right to create a massively multiplayer online game using Marvel characters and worlds. These rights are exclusive, so any MMO featuring characters such as Spiderman or the Fantastic Four will only appear on Microsoft's new console.

A Marvel-based MMO was something considered to be in the cards after the lawsuit with NCSoft, creators of the popular MMO City of Heroes over copyright infringement.

This is not the first MMO announced for the Xbox 360, as Square Enix announced that Final Fantasy XI would be heading to the console.
