Square Enix To Cancel Depth Fantasia
07.13.05 - 1:06 AM

Square Enix today announced that it will shut down the servers for its MMORPG Depth Fantasia on November 13th. Originally released in December 2001, the Headlock-developed title was Enix's (now Square Enix) second RPG following Cross Gate. Depth Fantasia however never enjoyed the same popularity as the latter.

This week, Square Enix has stopped the sale of 90-day passes for the game, the sales of the 60-day and 30-day passes will end on August 11th and September 11th, respectively. From October 14th users can play Depth Fantasia for free for the remaining four weeks until the shutdown.

In addition to Cross Gate, Square Enix currently operates three more MMORPGs: Final Fantasy XI, Front Mission Online and the Japanese version of Sony Online Entertainment's EverQuest II. With Fantasy Earth: Ring of Dominion and a so far untitled game for next generation consoles at least two more MMORPGs are currently in development.
