Devil Summoner PS2 Website Goes Live
07.08.05 - 1:44 PM

Atlus has opened the official website for its recently announced PlayStation 2 title Devil Summoner: Kuzuha Raidou. Shin Megami Tensei character designer Kazuma Kaneko said he wanted to create an energetic title in tough times. Kaneko is not only acting as the game's art director, but is also responsible for the script. Series veteran Kazuyuki Yamai will serve as the game's director. Players will take the role of an apprentice detective who has to save Taisho period (1912-26) Tokyo from disaster. He also happens to be a devil summoner. The protagonist actually is the same character as Kyouji from Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner. Kaneko explained that the main theme of Kuzuha Raidou will be "passion".

As mentioned above, the game will break with Shin Megami Tensei's tradition of post- apocalyptic settings, by taking place in early 20th century Tokyo. With western culture flowing into Japan at an incredible speed, and traditional Japanese things being destroyed, the development team wants to paint an image of a world of extremes. A key contrast will be between have and have-nots, not unlike in today's society. System-wise, the game will feature an adventure part where players will have to solve incidents, while the battle part will be a rather action-oriented affair.

Devil Summoner: Kuzuha Raidou has yet to receive a release date in Japan.
