E3: Atlus presents Riviera: The Promised Land 05.20.05 - 11:43 AM From Sting, developer of Evoution and Baroque comes Riviera: The Promised Land. Published by Atlus, the game takes place in an age after the gods and demons have both been sealed away. Only the land of Riviera remains as a memoir of a time when the two forces clashed in Ragnarok. It was the work of the Grim Angles, creations of the gods, that did in the demons. But now it seems the demons are about to return, and so the Seven Magi, servants of the gods, must see to it that Riviera is destroyed before the demons can claim it. Atlus gave RPGFan a hands-on of the game which features hand-drawn anime-style artwork, an isometric view of the world, and both a unique battle and movement system. The movement system allows players to either proceed from screen to screen, or select a look option with which they can investigate their surroundings. The battle system require sthat players choose what armnaments they want to bring into battle for use against the enemy. This includes weapons, items, and other such useables. The game features six different endings, each obtainable as the main character, Ein, builds up relationships with the six female leads. There will also be plenty of mini-games for players to distract themselves with as the game progresses, yielding secrets that are otherwise inaccessible. The game is set to release in June 2005 for an estimated retail price of $29.99 for the GameBoy Advance.
