05.18.05 - 7:59 PM

Akella, developers of Pirates of the Caribbean had several RPG hybrids to show off. The Russian company had to show Swashbucklers: Blue & Grey, Age of Pirates, and Enosta [Discovery Beyond].

Swashbucklers: Blue & Grey is easily one of the most unique games at the show. Players will take the role of a freelance ship captain, Abraham Grey during the US Civil War. During the short demo, Grey went to purchase a gun, destroyed several random thugs, and was mauled by a tiger. In Florida. The game features a real map and will have up to twenty towns.

In line with other naval simulators, Akella was also showing Age of Pirates, a pseudo-sequel to Sea Dogs. Players familiar with the first Sea Dogs will be right at home Age of Pirates. Nearly all NPCs in the game will offer quests and players will be able to captain over 25 ships. The game features a skill-based system and will feature multiple weather effects.

Enosta [Discovery Beyond] is a space-based RPG early in its development cycle. The game features point-and-click movement and combat and will be heavy on trading.

Akella also announced other titles that were not at the show. Hard to Be A God (working title) and S.M.E.R.S.H were on hand in video form.
