E3: Mythic to Release Darkness Rising
05.18.05 - 7:50 PM

In an interview with Mythic Entertainment today, RPGFan got to take a glimpse of the newest Dark Age of Camelot expansion, Darkness Rising. The expansion follows the kings' champions on a quest to quash a rebellion brewing in the kingdom. Aimed towards higher level (30-50) players, this expansion will feature champion levels, levels past 50 which confer benefits such as the chance to obtain new, class-specific weapons. There will be three new zones (one per realm).

While the new expansion will not be a party-centric "raid" game, the king-ordered quests will require grouping. There will also be the ability to "sub-class," allowing that sword wielding fighter to learn a low level spell or two. There will also be player controlled mounts available in this expansion. Those who do not purchase the expansion will be able to obtain the standard brown horse, while those who do buy the game will be able to upgrade to different colored mounts with guild blankets, saddles, saddle bags, and even armor.

Darkness Rising should be available before the end of '05.
