Atlus Posts Another Round of Red Numbers 05.09.05 - 8:20 PM Atlus today announced its financial results for the fiscal year that ended on March 31st. The company behind Shin Megami Tensei, Digital Devil Saga, Growlanser and the recently released strategy RPG Stella Deus posted a net loss of 23 million yen ($218,777 US) on sales of 17.85 billion yen ($169.79 million US). While Atlus had released ten titles for PlayStation 2 and Game Boy Advance during the 12-month period, sales figures for the games were lower than initially projected. Other reasons cited for the loss were the delay of Shin Megami Tensei Online and rising costs related to more aggressive marketing. For the current fiscal year 2005/06, Atlus projects sales worth 23.87 billion yen ($227.05 million US) and a net loss of 380 million yen ($3.62 million US). It was also revealed that 30 employees have applied for the voluntary retirement program. Apart from the upcoming PC-based online RPG Shin Megami Tensei Online, the company plans to cooperate with South Korean companies to release online games developed in South Korea.
