Square Enix Releases New Code Age Commanders Info
04.04.05 - 9:34 PM

Square Enix has updated the official website for its manga/game project Code Age. The entire project is being developed by Warhead, a group of Square Enix staffers. As previously announced, Final Fantasy X art director and Unlimited: SaGa character designer Yuusuke Naora will be overseeing Code Age's development in his position as concept designer and producer. The character designer of Final Fantasy IX and art director of Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles, Toshiyuki Itahana is responsible for designing Code Age's characters. Titled Code Age Commanders: Tsugu Mono, Tsugareru Mono, the PlayStation 2 title is described by Square Enix as a battle action RPG.

At the center of Code Age's world rests the cornerstone of its creation, the so-called Central Code. Man knows that every ten thousand years this Central Code triggers off a certain phenomenon, resulting in massive natural disasters on earth. In order to survive the massive destruction, man has built a gigantic Ark. However, the Central Code does not permit such devices and the Ark eventually crashes into an entirely changed world. The protagonist of the game is a young boy named Gene. After the Ark's crash-landing, Gene is dragged into a conflict among grotesque creatures, and only on the brink of death, is revived as a so-called Warhead by a certain warrior. Looking for his older sister, the resurrected Gene is wandering across the battlefield as he comes to the realization that he has evolved into a creature exceeding a human being. It turns out that Gene's sister Aliz has been kidnapped by somebody. The third character, Bake will serve as a sort of navigator for Gene who has lost his memory.

Code Age Commanders will be available in Japan sometime this year.
