Today's Soundtracks update would not be complete without the introduction of staff member Mike Wilson. Mike has been hired on the staff for the sake of doing previews, but it seems he's also quite fond of VGM, as he has written four of tonight's six reviews! Expect more from him in the future, he seems to have quite a knack at giving his take on music.
Dragon Quest VIII was the first game to not have a corresponding "Symphonic Suite" release. Koichi Sugiyama must have felt content releasing the OST as it was, as the sound quality is superb!
Atelier Iris ~Eternal Mana~ has been hailed by import reviewers as one of the most fun and unique RPGs in years. Its soundtrack, featuring three different composers, also has a fun and unique feel.
Digital Devil Saga, a new game in the Shin Megami Tensei series, boasts a power-rock and atmospheric soundtrack from series composer Shoji Meguro.
Wild ARMs Alter Code:F, the PS2 remake of the original Wild ARMs, features updated tunes, as well as some new compositions, from series composer Michiko Naruke.
All four of these original soundtracks have been reviewed by Mike Wilson!
Our fifth review for today is written by Jeff Tittsworth. He takes a look/listen back to Hamauzu's wondrous soundtrack for the not-as-wondrous game UNLIMITED:SaGa. This is RPGFan's second review of the soundtrack, and both give the soundtrack much praise.
Finally, I reviewed Yasunori Mitsuda's "Hako no Niwa" (Box Garden), which is the soundtrack for Magic Pengel 2. Many Mitsuda fans were disappointed with Mitsuda's choices and methods of composition, but in this review, I beg to differ. Be sure not to miss this review, or any of the other reviews for this soundtracks update!
We have received multiple requests for a review of the soundtrack for Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim. Hence, the next update will be a massive Falcom soundtrack update featuring said title. Be ready for it!
