Banpresto has announced the 3rd Super Robot Taisen Alpha: Shuuen no Ginga he for PlayStation 2. Currently 50% complete, the newest installment of Banpresto's flagship series will feature characters and robots from more than two dozen anime series, while again letting the player control an original character. Apparently the development team has hidden away a hint regarding the new game's original characters in its recently released Game Boy Advance title Super Robot Taisen: Original Generation 2.

System-wise, the 3rd Super Robot Taisen Alpha will see the return of the platoon system and even flashier battles. Depending on whether a final blow connects or does not connect, a different sequence will occur. Cut-ins also will become more refined.

The 3rd Super Robot Taisen Alpha: Shuuen no Ginga he will be available in Japan sometime this year.
