02.04.05 - 4:54 AM

Square Enix has released some new information regarding its upcoming PlayStation 2 sequel Drag-on Dragoon 2: Fuuin no Kurenai, Haitoku no Kuro in the newest issue of Weekly Famitsu. The article revealed a new character named Urich. Three years before the story of Drag-on Dragoon 2 begins, this masked man has made a pact with no other than Death himself. In fact, the Grim Reaper does not only make deals in this game, he will also take part in the game's battles. As part of the deal, Urich received a certain ability. He used to be a member of the Seal Knights, but quit the unit for unknown reasons. For protagonist Nove he is like an older brother, pointing out trouble.

A new feature is the addition of towns, where players will be able to spend the money they have earned by defeating enemies on purchasing items, weapons and accessories. Depending on your weapon of choice, you can control a certain character. The selection of a sword-type weapon will result in you controlling Nove, while the selection of an axe-type weapon will put you in control of Urich. Weapons can also be switched on the fly during battle. This time around, players will not only get to fight airbone monsters, but also advanced airships. The Dragon Overdrive is a new form of special attack. Once your dragon has gone into overdrive mode, it is possible to unleash powerful fire attacks or attack enemies on the ground with the dragon's claws.

Drag-on Dragoon 2: Fuuin no Kurenai, Haitoku no Kuro will be available in Japan sometime this spring.
