EA Acquires 20% Stake in Ubi Soft
12.20.04 - 5:12 PM

Redwood City, California-based Electronic Arts plans to acquire a 20% stake in its French rival Ubi Soft from a Dutch investment company. The world's largest third party publisher will pay between 85 million and 100 million USD for the package. The acqusition is subject to approval by the Federal Trade Commission. In a statement, EA's chief financial officer Warren Jenson would not say whether his company was interested in acquiring more Ubi Soft shares in the future. He explained, however, that if Ubi Soft had interest in merging with another company, EA's stake would become an important asset.
