Nihon Falcom Releases Financial Results for First Half of FY2004/2005

Nihon Falcom, the developer behind Ys and Eiyuu Densetsu (Legend of Heroes) has announced its financial figures for the fiscal year ending on September 30th. The company reported a profit of 261 million yen ($2.53 million US) on sales of 1.24 billion yen ($12.03 million US), an increase of 2.2% compared to the fiscal year 2003/2004. Sales of PC game software declined by 30.7% compared to the previous fiscal year, to 771 million yen ($7.48 million US), because of longer than expected development cycles. However licensing agreements with Konami and Bandai over the upcoming releases of Ys VI: Ark of Napishtim for PlayStation 2 and PlayStation Portable as well as Eiyuu Densetsu III: The White Witch for PlayStation Portable resulted in license business to grow by 358.7% to reach 471 million yen ($4.57 million US).

For the new fiscal year, Nihon Falcom projects sales of 1.37 billion yen ($13.29 million US) and a net profit of 287 million yen ($2.79 million US).
