Despite the fact that Sakura Taisen 4 was meant to be the end of the series, it wasn't long before Sega announced the fifth game in the series for the PlayStation 2. The console has already seen releases of both a remake of the first game (titled Sakura Taisen - Atsuki Chishio Ni) and a sort of 'preview' of the fifth game, in Sakura Taisen V Episode 0 - Arano no Samurai Musume. Interestingly, the fifth entry, titled Sakura Taisen V: Saraba Itoshiki Hito yo, seems to take place after the events of the remade first title, instead of the fourth game as one might expect.
