Atlus Preview Trio + Media
08.19.04 - 12:27 AM

You may have noticed our previews section has been slow as of late. To make up for lost time, tonight we're bringing you all-new previews for three big upcoming Atlus RPGs.

To start things off, we have a preview of a game that isn't really an Atlus release, although they did have a hand in getting NIS America's (The North American division of Disgaea and La Pucelle: Tactics developer Nippon Ichi) Phantom Brave ready for prime time. The game is due for release at the end of the month, but you can check out Mark Tjan's preview of Disgaea's spiritual successor right here.

In addition, Mark also wrote up a lengthy preview for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne, coming to the PS2 next month. It's big news for fans of the series, given that it typically doesn't see many releases outside of Japan. The English version of the game is even going to be based on the updated Japanese version, with many tweaks and additions, plus a new character in Dante, borrowed from Capcom's Devil May Cry series.

With Phantom Brave being somewhat of a successor to two other Nippon Ichi games, and SMT: Nocturne the latest (and some argue, greatest) chapter in the Shin Megami Tensei series, Digital Devil Saga: Avatar Tuner is a brand new creation from the MegaTen creators. Featuring visuals very akin to - but slightly more polished than - its older brother, it looks to be a whole new experience. Read up on Stephen Harris' preview, and prepare yourself for Digital Devil Saga, due out in November.

In case this isn't enough, we also have a wide assortment of new screen shots for Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. Finally, with Phantom Brave due out soon, be sure to look for our hands-on review early next month.
