Banpresto Announces New Super Robot Taisen Games for GC, GBA
08.04.04 - 9:44 PM

Banpresto has revealed the two newest additions to its popular Super Robot Taisen mech strategy titles. Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2 for Game Boy Advance is the second part of a trilogy. The third title will be released in spring 2005. Currently 60% complete, Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2's setting and world will be similiar to the planned anime version's content.

Super Robot Taisen GC will feature characters and mechs from a total of 19 different anime series. The GameCube title will have no link feature with any Game Boy Advance installment of the series. While maps will be in 2D, battle scenes are made up of 3D polygons. The 3D battles allow the development team to implement a new damage system, which results in the mech's arms or legs taking damage rather than the entire unit itself. With its development currently 60% complete, Banpresto plans to show off the title in video form during the Character Hobby Fair 2004 in Chiba's Makuhari Messe on August 21st and 22nd.

Super Robot Taisen Original Generation 2 and Super Robot Taisen GC will both be available in Japan sometime this winter.
