Square Enix has revealed some new bits of information regarding Dragon Quest VIII in the upcoming issue of the Japanese publication V-JUMP. The Level 5-developed PlayStation 2 title will feature various field map environments ranging from sandy beaches to rivers to snowy mountains. The backgrounds' looks will also change during day and night time. Furthermore, the newly implemented command "nakama" (fellow) will allow players to engage in conversations with their fellow party members.

Dragon Quest VIII will be available in Japan sometime this winter.
