New Final Fantasy XII Character Revealed

A new member of Final Fantasy XII's cast has been revealed: Basshe, a brave and bold general of the small kingdom of Dalmaska. Unlike most other generals, who are members of the nobility, Basshe is a commoner who has worked his way up to his current post. Equipped with a strong sense of justice, he was popular among the Damalskan people, the younger generation in particular. Why it was he who negotiated the surrender of his kingdom, following its invansion by the Arcadian army, is unknown. At least temporarily, he will join yout party and become a playable character.

Non-playable characters throughout the game will feature a so-called 'talk' icon above their heads, meaning that the player can start a conversation with them. A little map in the upper right-hand corner of the screen will ensure players won't get lost while exploring the game's large areas.

While initial trailers already proved the existence of chocobos in the game, another series trademark and fan favorite, the moogles have only been revealed recently. Interestingly enough, in one screenshot countless moogles with long ears, dressed up in fancy clothes were shown taking part in a parade. Apparently, moogles also manage chocobo shops.

Final Fantasy XII will be available in Japan sometime between winter 2004 and spring 2005, with a North American release to follow at an unspecified time.
