Taito and Nihon Falcom have signed a cooperation agreement, under which the two companies will cooperate on PlayStation 2 software development and publishing. As part of the deal, three installments of Nihon Falcom's classic Ys series as well as the action RPG Zwei will be seeing PlayStation 2 releases. The latter will be released in Japan this August, with the release of Ys III following in the fall. While the two companies have so far only released specifics regarding the Japanese aspect of the contract, an expansion to overseas markets is also planned.

Zwei, which was originally released for the PC platform in December 2001 has been a big hit for Nihon Falcom, selling about 50,000 copies. Since the release of its first installment in 1987, the company's flagship series Ys has sold more than 2.8 million copies, making it the best selling PC-based RPG series in Japan.
