Hudson Announces Tengai Makyou III Main Theme
04.02.04 - 1:06 PM

Hudson has announced details regarding the soundtrack and main theme of its PlayStation 2 RPG Tengai Makyou III: Namida. Series veteran Kazuhiko Katou will return as composer, while Chris Mosdell will be writing the lyrics for the game's main theme Namida - When Firebirds Cry. Unlike many other recent RPGs, whose main themes were performed by popular J-POP artists, the main theme of Tengai Makyou III will be performed by English songstress Sarah Brightman. Composer Katou remarked that she had an oriental touch to her, and while Tengai Makyou was a very Japanese RPG series, Namida's stage required a subtle change. Since the game will take you to a world modelled after the southern Japanese island of Kyushu, he wants players to feel Okinawan and Chinese elements as well, by creating an oriental Japanese style soundtrack. Simultaneously to four Brightman concerts in Sapporo, Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka in June, her record company Toshiba EMI will release her new album Harem Ultimate Edition, which will include Namida, on June 9th.

Today Hudson also officially confirmed the cancellation of the GameCube version of Tengai Makyou III. Since the game's content has kept growing and the company wants to improve its quality, it concluded that it was not feasible to release the game on two platforms. Tengai Makyou III: Namida for PlayStation 2 is still on track for an October release in Japan.
