Chunsoft Reveals Homeland for GameCube
03.25.04 - 7:46 PM

During a presentation in Tokyo today, Chunsoft showed off its three 20th anniversary titles, among them 3 Nen B Gumi Kinpachi Sensei for PlayStation 2 and its GameCube RPG Homeland. The latter is a comic-style fantasy RPG, which will consist of two parts: A traditional single player and a network-enabled RPG mode. This online feature will not be based on an external server, but thanks to an original technology developed by Chunsoft, handle the data over the network instead. The GameCube unit itself will act as a server, allowing several players to play online together. Hence, no monthly fees will be charged for playing Homeland online. The owner of the GameCube unit is free to take part in the actual game as well: he or she will act as an administrator, watching the other players' steps, placing monsters and triggering events. This mode is referred to as God Play mode.

Homeland will be available in Japan sometime this year.
