New Xenosaga Episode II Details Announced
03.09.04 - 6:10 AM

Namco has updated the official website for its Monolith Soft-developed RPG Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Boese (Beyond Good and Evil). The sequel to Episode I will feature the return of U-TIC commander Margulis, his aide-de-camp Pellegri as well as Sellers, the previously unnamed U-TIC scientist wearing sunglasses, who made few appearances in the prequel. Sellers was in fact a colleague of the late Joachim Mizrahi, hence he did not share a common rivalry with the genius scientist whose research he claimed for himself after Mizrahi's death.

Well-known to fans of Xenogears, the so-called Anima Relics will make their first appearance in Xenosaga Episode II. These mysterious objects were discovered at the same time as the original Zohar. Since the Relics have the function and form of a brain, they work in conjunction with the E.S. series mechs, which act as a body for them. While they are used to power weapons, their original purpose is unknown. It was also revealed that the Anima Relic-powered E.S. Isaachar will be piloted by Pellegri. Its main weapons are the Crescent Hand and a giant spear. In her attack on Jr. and the others on Second Miltia, Pellegri is assisted by the Herman-piloted Scutum and the Richard-piloted Pilum A.M.W.S units.

Also, some new locations have been added, among them the former research labratory of Joachim Mizrahi and current U-TIC headquarters, and a mysterious space fortress which might be related to the U-TIC facility. The fortress' interior structure is comparable to a maze, at whose center a core-like object carrying the name Ormus resides. Another new location is a church-like place, not unlike the small cathedral in Pleroma during the first game. There is a chance that this place as well is somehow connected to the U-TIC organization's main facility.

Last but not least, Namco has shown a room with a Zohar floating in its center. Whether this it the original Zohar or one of the modifiers however, is a secret. In the early stages of the game, Pelligri, Herman and Richard are attacking Jr. and co., who are accompanying MOMO to the UMN Administration Center. Canaan, riding his E.S. Aser arrives at the scene just to help them out. After a clash between the two E.S. series models, Aser and Isaachar resonate with each other, causing both Canaan and Pellegri to effectively lose control over them.

Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Boese will be available in Japan sometime in June.
