Black Isle Studios Closes Its Doors
12.10.03 - 5:25 PM

Black Isle Studios, the developing studio behind popular PC titles like Fallout, Icewind Dale and Baldur's Gate, has been shut down.

The Irvine, California-based studio was a division of Interplay. Earlier this week, the parent company released most staff members, thereby effectively closing its subsidary specialized in the development of Dungeons and Dragons-based RPGs for the PC platform. Apart from Interplay's current financial woes, the company's decision to focus on console titles is generally considered to be the main reason behind the closure of Black Isle Studios.
