SCEA's Kaz Hirai, Others Promoted

Foster City, California-based Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced the promotion of its president Kaz Hirai to Chief Operating Officer. While Hirai will serve as both CEO and president, Andrew House, who is responsible for marketing and 3rd party relations, and Jack Tretton, who is in charge of sales, have been promoted to become executive vice presidents of Sony Computer Entertainment America and corporate executive officers of Sony Computer Entertainment. Furthermore, from now on Tretton will oversee first-party development operations at SCEA. Jim Bass has been appointed to become the company's Chief Finanical Officer, after serving as vice president in charge of financial affairs for seven years. Masayuki Chantani has been appointed to senior vice president of Sony Computer Entertainment's global Broadband Strategy Group. In his new role he will also manage SCE's cooperation with partners such as AOL and RealNetworks, while retaining his position as vice president, business and technology at SCEA. Former vice presidents Steve Ross and Riley Russell also have assumed new positions, with Ross being promoted to senior vice president and Rusell being named a general counsel to SCEA.
